Who: Me and Dethtoll (Bill) are trying to make it happen, making calls, scouting locations, talking to insurance companies, figuring out logistics and legal issues to see if we can bring drifting to fresno.
What: a drift practice type event aimed for 1st timers-intermediate drivers to learn/hone their drifting in a legal and safe enviroment complete with helmets for those who dont have any and thats close to home (fresno and the surrounding area).
When: once enough serious people want to participate in a central california drift event i would hope in 3-6 months time, if it gets too close to the winter season then i would like to hold out til spring.
HOW ITS GONNA HAPPEN: I WANT A HEADCOUNT OF PEOPLE WHO ARE SERIOUS ENOUGH TO PUT DOWN ANYWHERE FROM $100-150 DOWN TO PRE-REGRISTER/PRE-PAY IN FULL (THIS MONEY WILL BE USED TO PAY FOR THE COST OF THE SITE/EVENT INSURANCE AND OTHER NECESSITIES LIKE PORTA-POTTIES, ETC. AND GURANTEE YOUR SPOT). IF WE DO NOT GET ENOUGH PEOPLE TO PRE-REG THEN THE EVENT CAN NOT BE THROWN BECAUSE THIS WEBSITE DOES NOT HAVE ENOUGH CAPITOL TO RENT AND INSURE AN EVENT BY ITSELF.
So....................If your serious post up that your are interested in a cen cal drift event. list some way of contacting you (email preferbly, or use this forum's PM/personal message system, id rather not take or make phone calls but i will, so as information becomes available to me, it'll be available to you. PLEASE DO NOT LIST ANYONE BUT YOURSELF, I WILL NOT ACCEPT "i know 30 people who are down for a drift event". THEY WILL NEED TO POST UP HERE that and say they are and some give me some kind of contact info. They're not a member of this forum or dont have internet, thats too d**n bad, they need to sign up or go somewhere where there's internet. If your a MAYBE, then your actually a NO
before you ask me/FAQs:
how much is the event?? we're still looking at differenct locations each has their own price rates for renting out plus have different insurance requirements, those two factors will play the biggest part of costs to the event but regardless of that i would like to charge anywhere between $100-$150 tops. take into event that the more people sign up prior to the event the price will fall due to the fact that costs are being spread out amongst a bigger group( a big reason why we need to know if your serious )
Refunds: I will only ask for money when the amount of people needed has been reached, and then if by chance people flake or the event gets canceled all will be refunded. if the event goes thru and you back-out or cant make it, NO REFUND, because that money was used to procure the event and thus has been spent but you may substitute another car or driver.
Is this a spectator event?? i say no, its a driver event but i do want to speard the popularity of drifting and let people see it first hand to experience the sight, sounds, and people of drifting to have a bigger impact of people and make legitimate drifting seem more obtainable to those wanting to get into the sport and deter them from street drifting/racing. so what ive thought is if you come by yourself to watch you will be charge a small fee (maybe 5 bucks) but if you bring a child: free (because drifting needs a future generation)
Will there be instructors for those who want it?? probably not, ive not even looked into that possibility yet but drifters are a cool and friendly bunch and welcome questions and are willing to give advice, tips and even ride alongs if you ask, so there will be someone there willing to help you get started on getting sideways.
Will there be a tech inspection?? a light one, consisting of a break check, leaking fluid, tightened lug nuts and seat belt check. Its for your safety and the safety of others, plus if your car dies and takes an hour to get it off the course and cleaned up that cuts into everybody elses runs.
You said helmets provided: im trying to procure at least 4 one size fits all helmet for those who dont have one. It'll be given to the people in front of the starting grid who dont have one, they do their lap, and pass it on to the next person who needs it. Word of advice, if you plan on using a LOANER HELMET it'll probably be warm to hot that day and that helmet will probably have alot of different peoples' sweat on it so maybe at least go buy your own helmet sock unless you dont mind man sweat all over your face. oh and dont wear hair gel.
i might be forgeting something.............and sorry for any mispellings or bad grammar.

take for example and may i stress the EXAMPLE: lets say the cost of the site is $1500 with a required event insurance costing $3000 and $500 in expenses like porta-potties, and fencing; all that stuff equals out to $5000. and we only get 10 people who are willing to pre-reg cost of $100; thats only $1000 not even enough to cover the cost of the site. with the required costs and the suggested price we would need 50 people to pre-reg, get my point??
